High performance and reliability with VMware vSphere Foundation
VMware vSphere Foundation (VCF-VSP-FND-8) is a solution that combines advanced virtualization with simplicity of management, offering companies a medium-sized, solid and scalable IT infrastructure management platform. With full integration with vCenter, vSAN and monitoring capabilities, vSphere Foundation ensures optimal performance and high availability, enabling organizations to easily manage growing IT resources and prepare for future growth.
The vSphere Foundation platform includes VMware vSphere, vCenter Standard, vSphere Kubernetes Service, vSAN and VCF Operations, as well as log management tools (VCF Operations for logs), enabling comprehensive management of the virtual environment. Additionally, the solution can be easily expanded with an optional storage virtualization (vSAN) add-on, enabling development towards hyperconverged infrastructure (HCI) and further optimization of IT resources.
Thanks to integration with VMware vSphere Trust Authority, vSphere Foundation enables secure management of IT infrastructure, ensuring data integrity and confidentiality throughout the virtual environment. Data protection is also enhanced by encryption mechanisms that protect both data stored on disk and data in transit.
Functionality |
Description |
---|---|
VCF Operations: Continuous Performance |
VCF Operations ensures optimal workload performance at minimal cost. Based on the developed operational and business strategy, predictive analytics and artificial intelligence take action in real time, automatically balancing workloads and proactively avoiding overloads. |
VCF Operations: Efficient Cost and Capacity Management |
Reduces costs and improves efficiency with predictive cost analytics, offering optimal consolidation and proactive planning. Leverages capacity analytics engine with predictive analytics and artificial intelligence, loads are automatically balanced to improve performance based on operational and business goals. |
VCF Operations for Logs |
Manage log data at scale with centralized infrastructure log management, deep operational visibility and intelligent analytics, making it easier to troubleshoot and audit environments. Features include interactive log analysis, Kubernetes log collection, alerts, Active Directory integration, role-based access control, dashboard reporting, and event forwarding. |
VMware vSAN™ Enterprise (.25 TiB per core) |
An advanced storage virtualization solution. Supports hyperconverged infrastructure (HCI). |
Supervisor support on vSAN stretched clusters |
Enables Supervisor deployment on a stretched vSAN cluster spanning two physical locations. |
vSphere Kubernetes Service (VKS) |
vSphere Kubernetes Service allows developers to manage consistent and compliant Kubernetes clusters using the ClusterClass API. |
Storage Service |
Storage Service allows developers to manage block disks for use with Kubernetes containers and virtual machines. Enables you to deploy your existing block and file storage infrastructure to container workloads. |
Network Services |
Network Service allows developers to manage virtual routers and load balancers. Leverage your existing network infrastructure with the centralized vSphere Distributed Switch (VDS) interface to configure, monitor, and administer switch access for VMs and Kubernetes workloads. |
Container Registry Service |
Registry Service allows developers to store, manage, and secure Docker and OCI container images through Harbor as a Supervisor service. |
Storage DRS™ |
Automated load balancing that takes storage characteristics into account when determining the best place for virtual machine data as it is created and used. |
vSphere vMotion |
Enables live virtual machine migration without disruption to users or loss of service, eliminating the need to schedule application downtime for server maintenance. Recent improvements to vMotion logic ensure disruption-free operations regardless of VM size, especially for large and mission-critical workloads. |
Fault Tolerance |
Ensures continuous availability of every application in the event of hardware failure - without data loss or downtime for workloads up to 8 vCPU. Only 2-vCPU in Standard version. |
File Services |
Enables NFS file sharing directly on a vSAN cluster. Integrated with vSAN storage management, supports SBM, NFSv3 and NFSv4.1 file sharing. |
Green Metrics |
Allows you to track the energy consumption of workloads, infrastructure services, and idle time at the host or virtual machine level. Helps you discover possibilities: 1) optimizing the carbon footprint of energy-intensive workloads; 2) using idle time to consolidate workloads; |
