Symantec Messaging Gateway Small Business Edition is an advanced e-mail infrastructure security solution dedicated to small and medium-sized enterprises. It combines a multi-layer protection architecture, advanced threat analysis algorithms and modern data leak prevention mechanisms, offering comprehensive protection of the e-mail environment in a fully scalable, efficient and easy to manage way.

The foundation of Messaging Gateway's effectiveness is advanced content filtering, based on dynamic rules and heuristic mechanisms, supported by the Broadcom Global Intelligence Network. The system not only identifies and blocks spam at a rate of over 99%, but also recognizes patterns of unauthorized correspondence, phishing attacks and malware. Content filters are constantly updated based on global telemetry data, allowing you to respond to new attack campaigns in real time.

An important component of SMG is built-in Advanced Threat Protection, which includes both source reputation analysis and deep inspection of attachments and URLs. Integrated phishing link detection mechanisms analyze the structure of the message, the sender's metadata and the reputational history of the links, allowing them to be isolated or blocked before the message is delivered to the end user. Additionally, Messaging Gateway uses sandboxing and document reconstruction (Content Disarm & Reconstruction), enabling behavioral analysis of attachments in an isolated environment and secure delivery of cleaned documents to recipients, eliminating the risk of infection using unknown exploits.

Symantec Messaging Gateway also implements full support for message authentication protocols - SPF, DKIM and DMARC - enabling advanced protection against Business Email Compromise (BEC) attacks and spoofing. By analyzing the headers and context of messages, the system can detect anomalies indicating an attempt to impersonate trusted domains or people in the organization, and then automatically classify and isolate such messages.

An important advantage of Messaging Gateway is the ability to provide detailed reporting and monitoring of all e-mail traffic. Advanced administrative dashboards enable analysis of the effectiveness of security policies, assessment of the level of threats, as well as tracking and auditing individual messages in real time. The system supports integration with external SIEM tools, which allows for centralization of logs and further correlation of events in environments requiring compliance with audit and regulatory policies.

Messaging Gateway Small Business Edition is available as a virtual image, which allows for flexible adaptation of the implementation to the existing IT infrastructure. The subscription version includes full technical support and regular updates of signatures, detection mechanisms and system components.
